During a drinks reception or a banquet meal, close-up magic is the format that tends to work best. Guests are already at their tables or moving between them, so I come to them. It breaks the ice quickly and keeps the energy in the room. If the evening is more of a company party than a formal dinner, tarot is genuinely popular and gives people something unexpected. For an after-dinner moment, a stage show gives the whole room one shared experience to end on.
Weddings & Drinks Receptions
The drinks reception is the best window. While you are getting photos taken, guests need somewhere to be and something to do. 3 Things That Make a Big Difference at an Event
After years of performing at events across Ireland, these are the three details that have the biggest impact on how the entertainment lands. Get them right and everything else takes care of itself.

Lighting
Lighting affects atmosphere more than people realise. Bright natural daylight is perfect. The issue is usually venues that are too dark. If you have control over the space, aim for good visibility without anything too harsh or too dim. For evening events, a slight dim during the stage show shifts the atmosphere immediately.

Sound Levels
Background music is great. Just keep the volume at a level where people can still hear each other speak. Close-up magic and tarot readings live in those small, intimate moments between performer and guest. If the music is competing, those moments get lost. For the stage show, coordinate with your DJ or band so there is a clean handover window before I go on.

Timing
When in the running order the entertainment happens matters as much as the entertainment itself. Too early and guests haven't settled in. Too late and the energy has already peaked.
