Last Friday I headed up to Donegal for a summer social event with Donegal County Council at the beautiful Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club. It was one of those evenings where everything just clicked from the moment I arrived, and it reminded me how much the right crowd can make a show genuinely special.

Arriving at the Golf Club

The event was organised through the council's social club, and I have to give a huge thank you to Katie Gallin who handled everything on their end. She was incredibly easy to deal with, had everything sorted and ready for me when I arrived and even organised my hotel for the night, which honestly made the whole trip so much smoother. When an event contact is that on top of things, it sets the tone for the whole evening.

When I walked in, the smell of a proper outdoor barbecue hit me immediately. Burgers, the lot. Everyone was in great form already, enjoying food and drinks and settling into the evening together. I got set up while the crowd were eating and there was a fun raffle with some serious prizes before I went on. By the time I took to the floor, the room was warm, buzzing and ready for something different.

The Mind Reading Show

I performed a 20-minute mind reading show for the group and it went really well. One of the highlights was discovering a PIN code that an audience member created completely on the spot. I want to be clear about one thing here: I never reveal someone's actual PIN in front of a room full of people. Some performers might handle that differently but when you're working with real people and building genuine trust, that line matters to me. The demonstration still landed perfectly and the reaction from the room was everything you'd want.

Getting people up on stage made the whole thing come alive. Some of the volunteers were so enthusiastic and naturally funny that they practically became performers themselves by the time we were done. There was a real energy in the room with people at the bar, people at tables, everyone tuned in and engaged throughout.

The Murderer with the Sharpie

There was also a murder mystery element running through the night, which added a fun extra layer to everything. At one point the person who had been playing the murderer came up on stage and tried to stab me with a sharpie. Dramatically, I might add. I forgave her. It was absolutely hilarious and exactly the kind of spontaneous moment that you can't plan for and that makes live performance so much fun. The crowd loved it.

Tarot Readings

After the show I moved into individual tarot readings for anyone who wanted one. Donegal County Council have a great mix of people and it showed in the conversations I had during the readings. Thoughtful, open and genuinely curious. People took their time with it and I always find that corporate groups surprise you when the setting is relaxed enough for real conversations to happen. That's when tarot really does its thing.

A Brilliant Evening in Donegal

The scenery at Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club is genuinely stunning. Performing in a place like that, with great people and that kind of atmosphere, is exactly why I love what I do. The staff at the club were helpful and welcoming throughout the night and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. A huge thank you to Katie and everyone at Donegal County Council's social club for having me. On to the next one.
